What kind of work do you do as an engineer?

The main duties of the company are operation and management of sock knitting machines and production. I am responsible for responding to machine errors, splicing yarn, and inspecting the knitted socks. Since various types of errors occur, it is important to determine the cause of the error and restart the machine.

What made you decide to become an engineer?

I was originally interested in working in the apparel industry. My interest in manufacturing grew when I went to a clothing college and made a piece of clothing using an industrial sewing machine. I thought that with our company's well-equipped facilities and environment, I would be able to create garments with attention to detail, so I applied to become an engineer at our company.

What is important to you in engineering?

We are conscious of having a sense of speed. Everything has a deadline, and no matter how perfect the product is, it will be meaningless if the deadline is not met. In order to work with a sense of speed while seeking perfection, I want to be aware of the purpose of each and every day's work and to eliminate unnecessary mistakes.

What have you learned from being an engineer?

It means that if you understand the condition of the machine and the characteristics of the yarn material, production can be carried out smoothly. A slight misadjustment of a machine can cause errors and defective products. We also believe the same can be said for the characteristics of yarn materials. I learned that specialized knowledge of machines and materials can greatly improve the efficiency of work.

When do you feel you have grown?

Immediately after I joined the company, I mostly asked my supervisors and senior staff whenever I did not understand something. Now, when I am confronted with a problem, I am conscious of thinking and trying to solve it by myself. When I solve a problem and at the same time pursue its cause, I feel that I have grown when I am able to make improvements to prevent the same problem from occurring next time.

Finally, what is the attraction of working at Sukeno as an engineer?

Even socks, which do not stand out among fashion items, are an essential item for fashion. We also believe that this item still has a lot of potential outside of the fashion field. The appeal of our company is that we are able to create products with a sense of speed, where new ideas and concepts can be given shape immediately, and changes and modifications can be made immediately.
